- Do I need to get preauthorization before I see a mental health specialist?
Universal Counseling Services (UCS) will make every effort to assist the prospective client through this process. However, every insurance company has its own set of guidelines. It is important that the client understand their insurance coverage. Therefore, every client is encouraged, if not required, to contact their carrier for explanation of coverage and benefits. The client is the one responsible for payment of services received at UCS.

- What types of programs do you offer?
UCS offers outpatient mental health services including individual, family and group counseling; psychiatric and psychosocial evaluation; and medication management for the youth and adults.
UCS also provides outpatient substance abuse treatment which includes outpatient detoxification, intensive outpatient and standard outpatient treatment services.
- Is UCS a for profit or non profit?
UCS is a private for-profit organization.
- Do you have a non profit portion of UCS?
UCS has established a non-profit organization called Universal Mental Health Resources. Once this organization has begun operations, further information will be provided on this website.
- What types of insurance plans are accepted?
UCS is a provider for most major insurance carriers including Medicare and Medical Assistance.
- How do I schedule an appointment?
An appointment can be scheduled at UCS by contacting the office at 410-752-5525.
- What types of payment will I be responsible for at the time of treatment?
The client is responsible for the co-payment assigned by their insurance company and/or self pay fees as assigned by UCS. Payment can be made by cash or check. At the current time, credit card payments are not being accepted.
